Socks Without Partners is the lonely hearts club for socks: a free, silly and surprisingly heartwarming place to post your lonely sock and help it find its long-lost twin or a brand-new partner.
Season 3, Episode 2: Potato Mail, Rent-a-Chicken and Cryonics: The Weirdest Subscriptions
Born on The Absurdists
Dreamed up by two sock lovers.
Socks Without Partners was dreamed up on The Absurdists, the weekly comedy show where Marlo Anderson and Brandi Mastrud dig into strange laws, weird facts and everyday nonsense. It came up on Season 3, Episode 2, “The Weirdest Subscriptions.” They’re both unapologetic sock lovers, and they agreed that every lonely sock deserves a second chance at love.
Our mission
We believe every sock, no matter how mismatched, worn out or abandoned, deserves a second chance. Socks Without Partners is part support group, part matchmaking service, part investigative journalism outfit. Because someone needs to ask the hard questions: Where do they go? Why do they leave? And is the dryer really a portal to another dimension?
What we do
Lonely Socks. Post your sock with a photo and a personal ad, and tell us whether it’s looking for its lost twin or a brand-new partner. Anyone who finds its other half, or has a single sock of their own, can send you a note.
Happily Re-Paired. When a match works out, the happy couple joins our wall of love stories.
Sock Stories. Our community shares its most heartbreaking (and sometimes hilarious) tales of sock loss.
Conspiracy Theories. Our finest investigative minds tackle the question that has haunted humanity since the invention of the washing machine: where do missing socks actually go? Leading theories include interdimensional lint traps, sock witness protection programs and sentient dryer elves.
